ABOUT ME
Beginnings
I would like to think of myself as a Jack-of-all-Trades, I see life as something to experience, and experience in every facet accessible to me. A first generation New Yorker born to two Jamaican immigrants, my childhood was spent in Rosedale Queens, and my summers spent in Westmoreland, Jamaica. I went to Brooklyn Technical High School and later attended SUNY Binghamton University. The pursuit of knowledge and skill is always at the forefront of everything I do.
I originally started my higher education journey hoping to pursue veterinary medicine. In my sophomore year of undergrad, I witnessed the beauty of a water birth and decided I wanted to instead pursue a career in midwifery. Due to some of my university’s bureaucracy I found that it would be easier to complete my four-year-degree in English Literature rather than transfer into the nursing program and obtain a bachelors in six years. After graduation I fell into various careers such as that of a Sexual Assault Liaison with a non-profit, to 4th Grade Teacher in a Charter School, to now working in logistics for an egg company. The dream of pursuing nursing has remained steadfast, and I finally returned to school and obtained my ASN in December of 2025. During my time in nursing school, I realized the vast opportunities that accompany a nursing degree. I now find myself pursuing a BSN, no longer with the hope of entering midwifery, but instead with a very open mind and heart, excited for the possibilities of the future.
Hobbies
I find it important to keep my mind and body strong and healthy. I love learning new skills and you can always find me taking some new class, or deep diving into researching new hobbies. I have a grand desire for novelty and challenge, and I find that has driven me to pursue environments that foster my curiosity and problem-solving skills.
Creativity is where I thrive, I love a hobby that keeps my hands busy and my mind creating. I knit, sew, crochet, shuttle tat, and weave. My mother taught me to embroider and crochet when I was in second grade and my interest and love of fiber arts and needle crafts took off from there. My desire to acquire new skills is everlasting.
In addition to my creative endeavors I enjoy anything that will get me to move my body. I’ve dabbled in pole dancing, surfing, unicycling, roller skating, salsa dancing to name a few, and I don’t intend on stopping there.
Mission
I live my life with the refusal to regret. I never want to look back and wonder - “What if?”
Every day is a chance to learn something new and I take that challenge seriously. Anything I’ve ever felt fear doing I have chosen to jump right in. My fear of public speaking, became standing on stage performing The Little Coochie Snorcher that Could in my University’s production of The Vagina Monologues. My fear of needles has now become an interest in body suspensions and tattoos. Fear has instead become my motivator.
I look at fear and nervousness as a sign that something is worth doing.
